Photoshoot
Photoshoots usually lasts from around 30 minutes to some hours, depending on if it's a location shoot or a convention shoot. The latter will have a shorter timeframe than location shoots due to tighter scheduling. One can expect a convention photoshoot to last for 30 minutes for solo clients, and 45 minutes for groups. Due to the nature of location photoshoots, there's no set time limit for the sessions as the photographer usually put off an entire day for one shoot.
It is expected for the client to show up at the planned meeting spot some minutes before the appointed time slot. The photographer will wait no longer than 15 minutes after the appointed time for a client to show up. If the client fails to show up within this time frame, they will be considered a no-show. Deposits are non-refundable for no-shows.
Deposit
In some instances, the client may have to pay a deposit to book my services. This is to be expected for larger projects, big groups, and clients I am not familiar with. As the photographer, I can determine when it will be necessary to enforce the deposit policy. When prompted with a deposit, the client has to pay 50% of the amount of the service planned before the set deadline. Failing to do so will forfeit their spot in my bookings. If the client wishes to cancel a booking after the deposit has been paid, the client must notify the photographer no later than 48 hours before the photoshoot date to get a full refund. The deposit is non-refundable for no-shows. In the rare instance where something should happen that'll make it impossible for the photoshoot to take place, the deposit will be fully refunded to the client.
After completing a photoshoot session, the remaining balance must be paid.
Payment
Accepted payment options are Vipps and Paypal. You may request an invoice for your payment if you wish, which will be sent to you by e-mail. Payment for my services has to be done either before or after the photoshoot, depending if there is a deposit due or not.
To avoid any payment issues for group bookings, I ask that the full payment for the service has to be done by one person. The clients may want to split the cost amongst themselves, however this must be done internally between the group members.
Copyright
Copyright law protects physical and digital photos, as they are copyrightable works. Copyright laws grant photographers the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute copies of their work, as well as prepare derivative works. This includes, but are not limited to, digitally altering a photograph or adding elements to it.
Any unauthorized usage of copyright photographs without permission—this includes printing, copying, displaying, or altering photographs—constitutes copyright infringement. This is important to keep in mind when handling my and other photographers' work.
"May another person edit the photos?"
As briefly mentioned in the section above, doing changes to my photos without my consent is strictly prohibited. I always encourage my clients to contact me when they need any changes made to the finished photos, as I will gladly do so to make the clients happy. However, a client may hire me for photoshoots where someone else will be handling the photo editing. This must be clearly communicated and agreed upon before the photoshoot session takes place.
"What should I keep in mind when posting the photos online?"
I let my clients post or show off the finished photos online as they wish, but I always expect to be credited as the photographer. Examples on how you can credit me in the right way.
1. The caption/description clearly states Juju in the Box as the photographer
2. You've tagged or linked the photo back to my website, or one of my socials;
@jujuinthebox_photo (Instagram)
@jujuinthebox (Facebook)
If a client is planning on posting the photos to Instagram, I strongly encourage them to add me as a collaborator to the post. I love seeing all the hype that function creates.
"Can I print your photos to sell as cosplay prints?"
As of now I do not have a policy put in place to allow clients to sell my photographs as prints. However, I have allowed clients to do so in the past. Please contact me if you're interested in doing so.
What to expect from the photographer?
- Clear communication
- Punctuality and reliability
- Transparency on photo editing progress and time frame
